Empowering transparent reporting and supplier engagement for commodity traders and manufacturers
CarbonChain’s carbon accounting platform can help you accurately and automatically track your nickel supply chain emissions.
CarbonChain is excited to release two major updates that simplify carbon reporting and supplier engagement, bringing you CBAM transparency and helping you to navigate the risk of penalties tied to critical submission deadlines.
With enhanced reporting capabilities and more granular control over your carbon data, CarbonChain’s platform is the control center you need to navigate the evolving compliance landscape.
"Our fall release addresses the complexities of CBAM reporting so businesses can maintain full regulatory compliance and handle their carbon data confidently."
- Adam Hearne, CEO and Co-founder (CarbonChain)
Simplify your declarations
The need for a robust supplier engagement strategy has never been greater. CarbonChain’s Fall release offers an easier way to meet these obligations:
→ Simplified supplier engagement —
Fines and penalties can arise from poor supplier engagement and lack of data management. Our latest improvements offer an easy alternative to the complex Summary Communication Sheet mandated by the European Commission.
Engaging suppliers and gathering the necessary data is simpler than ever.
→ Audit trail transparency —
Not all suppliers will provide the necessary data for submissions. In response, CarbonChain has enhanced supplier engagement audit trails on the platform, allowing users to clearly demonstrate the steps taken to source primary installation data.
→ Bulletproof reporting —
Our engineering team spent considerable time in Q3 rigorously testing and fine-tuning the platform, ensuring a seamless experience for every submission.
Better tagging, better quality, better reporting
Carbon accounting relies on clear and accurate data categorization. That’s why CarbonChain has introduced improved scope and category tagging in this release:
→ Improved scope and category tagging —
As our customer base expands, so do the unique use cases for emissions tracking. We’ve upgraded our tagging system to ensure that emissions data is classified with precision, allowing for more accurate carbon footprint calculations.
→ Data quality ratings —
To ensure the highest level of accuracy, CarbonChain now incorporates all five factors from the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Standard in our data quality ratings. Our carbon accounting methodologies have been third-party validated by SGS as aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
We’ve also added a simplified rating to product carbon footprints, enabling easier collaboration for improving data quality across supply chain emissions.
→ More granular calculations for steel —
CarbonChain is building the most sophisticated carbon accounting platform for metal and energy based supply chains, so we’re constantly advancing the calculations of our platform. In Q3, we added 37 new finished steel products to our database, along with 16 new production activities (e.g. annealing, cold rolling), which allows us to more accurately represent the processes occurring after steel production in the supply chain of such products.
Control your carbon data and stay ahead of regulations
Research by CDP and BCG shows that supply chain emissions (Scope 3) are 26 times higher than direct operational emissions (Scopes 1 and 2). With the manufacturing and materials sectors contributing significantly — along with retail, these sectors contributed more emissions than the EU’s total in 2022 — regulatory scrutiny will only intensify.
Customers will seek lower-carbon products, and investors are demanding net-zero targets backed by clear, data-driven plans.
CarbonChain gives you the tools to stay ahead:
Take the lead in the net-zero transition with CarbonChain’s comprehensive platform for carbon data reporting and supplier engagement.
